Vastushastra is knowledge. Thousands of research and experiments had done & going on nowadays in Vastushastra. Vastushastra is a parameter for developing a building or a room structure. We follow a few parameters which are really useful to end users.

While creating a building everyone has to follow the rules of architects, civil engineers, and so many contractors. Vastu Expert is also a part of building/room technology.

Here are some Vastu Tips for Interior Designing

Vastu for Ceiling: Ceiling is the head of the house; you cannot live in a house without a ceiling. Vastu Shastra advises having a flat ceiling free from cuts and irregular carvings to lead a balanced life. Similarly, when it comes to the bedroom, falling and the depressed ceiling is a big no. Simple, elegant, and flat ceiling works the best for residential properties.

Placement of Kitchen: Kitchen is one of the major rooms of the house. It is a place where food is cooked, and members of the house are fed. The right direction to place is the kitchen is in the Southeast corner or northwest corner to bring fulfillment to the house. Always, make sure that the stove is placed in the south-east direction.

Vastu for the Interior of the Kitchen: Kitchen is the central part of the house where all the food items are kept and cooking is done. It is considered to be powered by fire element and helps us in gaining health. According to Vastu Shastra, the fireplace or stove and electrical appliances must be kept in right direction whereas heating appliances like microwave, oven, etc. must be placed in a south-east direction. If there is a geyser in the kitchen, then the north-west direction is the best. Also, the sink for the kitchen must be fixed in the northern direction in “L” shape, and make sure there are no electrical appliances in the north-east direction of the kitchen. By following these rules, Vastu ensures the health and happiness of the housewife and other members of the family.

The door of the Room: The door of the room is important for privacy purposes, but some people prefer doors facing the bed which is wrong. Vastu Shastra says that the door of the room must not face the bed; it should not be directly facing the bed. Try to keep the door in another direction to avoid direct contact with evil eyes and negative energies.

Vastu Colour scheme for the house: Colours reflect a person’s personality and add substance to life. The choice of colors represents a person’s taste, nature, and liking. Vastu advises using bright and soft colors in the house to keep the area relaxing and soothing. Avoid using dark colors like red, black, and grey as they attract negative energies and create an aura of darkness in the place. For better results and attractive prospects, it is advisable to ask a professional Vastu consultant about the right color scheme, marble, and right flooring according to the room. Using these tips adds colors to a person’s life, bring happiness and harmony and eventually lead to a peaceful life.

Paintings and Statues: A house is decorated with paintings, scriptures, and statues. To keep the house full of positivity and happy energies, always avoid paintings of war, violence, and any negativity like sorrow or grief. Keep paintings and statues of peaceful people, calm colors, and bright images that will bring positivity to the house.

Study Room Placement and color scheme: Having a study room in the house is inevitable; it can be for children or parents. In case, a person is fond of reading and loves to have some private time reading and concentrating, make sure to construct the study room in east or north side facing. The ideal colors for the study room are yellow, white, or pink as these will bring positive vibrations into the room and increase peace and concentration.

Placement for the Bed: There is always a bed in the room, and when it comes to the master bedroom, people usually put a king-size bed to sleep and relax the body. According to Vastu, the perfect place to keep the bed is the south or west wall of the room so that the head lies in the south or west direction and the legs are in the north or east direction.

Some other tips to keep in mind:

  • North and east direction is best suited for balconies and windows.
  • Bathrooms and toilets should be constructed in the west or south region with drains on the northeast side.
  • You can build a small puja room in the northeast direction of the flat. If there is no space for the puja room then placing a small temple in this direction can work best away from the bathroom and toilets.
  • If there is a study room for children, then the northeast, northwest, north, east, and west direction can work the best. You can keep the study table on the eastern side, also keeping the puja room adjacent to the study room is considered auspicious for the members.
  • The southern part of the flat is good for the storeroom
  • Flat must be constructed in square or rectangle shape, avoiding irregular and circular shapes.
  • Avoid entry facing the lift.
  • The ideal height of the rooms is 12-14 inches, and there must be a gap of 3-4 feet between the floor and windows.
